Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond July 10, 2023 I think it is time for the rest of the story as the late Paul Harvey would have said: Many of you know that Carol passed away on November 29, 1966. I was at Ball State when it happened. After her funeral, I returned to Ball State. But I only stayed a few days. I had one professor who was a communist and liked to preach at us from the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and another one that was gay. Him being gay was his business, but I did not pay money to hear him talk about how great it was to be gay. If I had stayed in school, I would have had to hit one of them. They were not worth me going to jail over, so I dropped out. My mind was all screwed up. So I went drinking. I stayed drunk from December 1966 to January 1968. Uncle Sam's USAF sobered me up. I don't regret those 14 months but I do not want to ever go through that again. Fast forward to 1970, I married Susie. That marri
Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond March 7, 2021 Hopefully hibernation season is over. It appears that spring has sprung. There were a lot of daffodils blooming in the side ditch but a hard rain beat about all of the blooms off the stems. But more popped up, including the ones in Carol's yard. Also there are tiny white flowers and some blue and purple ones as well and of course my favorite, dandelions. During that cold snap, Carol's Pond froze over and that is not acceptable at all. Mother Nature are you listening? There were several ducks that stuck around most of the winter, but I have not seen them today. They were very fast swimmers, fast enough to create a good wake behind them. I dubbed them the Shore Patrol. Those of you that were in the military know what the shore patrol is. For those that weren't, it is Naval Military Police. There has also been a darter around this spring. A darter is a type of cormorant and its feathers a
June 20, 2023 Carol's Dragonfly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond The last few days have been a pain in my acetabulum. Last Wednesday night, just past midnight, the power went out. No big deal. It happens way too frequently here. So I went to bed. The next morning I still did not have power. I looked out in the back yard and 2 of my neighbors oak trees are now in my backyard. My neighbor to the east of me, lost 6 trees. The guy 2 doors west decided to loan Debbie an oak tree since 2 of hers were AWOL. Today, June 20 th , the power came back on around 1300 hours or 1:00 p.m. So in all it was out 5 and a half days. What a PITA (pain in the ass). I finally broke down and went to a motel. I can handle the heat at night and sleep fairly well. But after 4 days, I needed a shower desperately. I smelled worse than a hog pen. This was a major storm that did a lot of damage across a very large area. Since I do not have a TV I get my news off the internet. Shrevep
A very sad day indeed. Prayers for you and Carol.
