I must apologize for going so long between post. I have been doing some serious reading, often 2 books a day, but the eyes say stop for a while.


My livestock, Samantha, Sam, Bob, Sam Jr. and Samantha Jane have been in hiding. I think it was just too hot for them. But I have seen a very young one and I have named it, Little One. Little One might be 2 inches long and is probable Sam's relation. Of course these are small lizards. Don't ask me what kind, I don't know. Whitey, the great egret has been missing too, but I finally saw him on my neighbors pond. But now he is back to Carol's Pond, along with his mate or friend or whatever. Blue Boy is still MIA.


Last week the new windows came in and were installed. I have rejected several of them for various reasons. So now we wait for the replacements. If I was the supervisor at the factory someone would be looking for a new job with another company. Three were missing grids and one had 8 squares rather than 6. In washing them, one will not fold in for cleaning and the other one has a smudge between the panes. I don't think the quality control department is doing any thing.


I want to take this opportunity to express condolences to Curtis and Lettie Hedge for the passing of their oldest son.

    This is the first year I've had so many livestock around the house. I'm laughing because I too have named them!! I have to agree on quality ... it almost doesn't exist any more. All the hard workers who did such a great job for so many years have retired. It seems there's no pride in workmanship any more ... and quality control has gone out the window!! Glad to hear from you Rex.

    Glad you have so many little friends to watch. You are certainly right, there is no pride or quality control.

There were a lot of daffodils blooming in the side ditch but a hard rain beat about all of the blooms off the stems. But more popped up, including the ones in Carol's yard.   February 1, 2022 Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond The last week of January is my anniversary week. Some of them are enjoyable anniversaries and some suck really bad. That may be gross but it is the only way to say it. But before we get to the description of the anniversaries, there is some other news. Last week I looked in the back yard and there were hundreds of Purple Grackles or common blackbirds. I assume there are working their way north in anticipation of spring. I hope they are right. And there were some ducks that stopped in today. There were only 5 or 6. Something startled them and off they went. I seldom see ducks. Lake Bob Sandlin is on the west side of Mt. Pleasant and I suspect most stop there rather than on a small pond. Also last week, I had an MRI of my head and received some excellent news. The scan did NOT indicate Lewy-Body Dementia.   Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond April 10, 2022 We had a rip roaring thunderstorm about 10 days ago. There was very heavy rain, but Goat Island is still Goat Peninsula. I think Mother Nature is mad at me for mooning her on New Years Eve. If she doesn't bring us sufficient rain soon, I may moon her again. The drought has killed several of the trees, 7 trees may have to be removed. I am going to give them a couple of more weeks to see if they leaf out but if they don't, I will have them removed. There were some travelers that stayed on the pond for a couple of weeks, resting up before continuing on their migration. I don't know what type of ducks they were. They would dive down to feed and come up some other place. I would like to see them stick around all year. Samantha, Sam, Sam Jr. and Bill provided the entertainment this morning.
