Day 1of the western trip

 

I am finally on my way west. I left home around noon today. I saw some of my Brahman bovine of some type. They are a unique looking cow. neighbors before I even made it to the highway and one new neighbor. The old was the road runner and the redtail hawk and the new one is a


I stopped in Paris, TX for about an hour. I was looking at lift chairs that will stand me or from a reclining position. I liked the chair but the price is ridiculous. Hopefully I can convince the VA or Medicare to pay for it.


Once in OK, I was going north on US 271 and on my side of the road was Christmas tree all decorated. There were no signs, just the tree. The speed limit was 75, so no pictures.


Tonight I am in Shawnee, OK at a Days Inn

    Dodge City ... you lucky guy!!! One of my all time favorite Old West towns!!! Watch out for those cowboy ghosts!!! Happy to see you on the road!!

Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond March 7, 2021 Hopefully hibernation season is over. It appears that spring has sprung. There were a lot of daffodils blooming in the side ditch but a hard rain beat about all of the blooms off the stems. But more popped up, including the ones in Carol's yard. Also there are tiny white flowers and some blue and purple ones as well and of course my favorite, dandelions. During that cold snap, Carol's Pond froze over and that is not acceptable at all. Mother Nature are you listening? There were several ducks that stuck around most of the winter, but I have not seen them today. They were very fast swimmers, fast enough to create a good wake behind them. I dubbed them the Shore Patrol. Those of you that were in the military know what the shore patrol is. June 20, 2023 Carol's Dragonfly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond The last few days have been a pain in my acetabulum. Last Wednesday night, just past midnight, the power went out. No big deal. It happens way too frequently here. So I went to bed. The next morning I still did not have power. I looked out in the back yard and 2 of my neighbors oak trees are now in my backyard. My neighbor to the east of me, lost 6 trees. The guy 2 doors west decided to loan Debbie an oak tree since 2 of hers were AWOL. Today, June 20 th , the power came back on around 1300 hours or 1:00 p.m. So in all it was out 5 and a half days. What a PITA (pain in the ass). I finally broke down and went to a motel. I can handle the heat at night and sleep fairly well. But after 4 days, I needed a shower desperately. I smelled worse than a hog pen.
