September was not a good month for me or my family and friends. Gene Voorhies and his wife Jane and I went to Indiana for a class reunion. There was also a family reunion on the 14th. At the family reunion, my brother had a fatal stroke. Frank lived to get to the hospital and they tried but the stroke was too massive and did too much damage. He hung on for a week before passing. He was my only brother, and being 7 years older, taught me a lot. I do and will miss him.


The class reunion was one of the best ever. The committee did a great job.

    Oh Rex ... I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. Sadly, we are all getting older. No one knows just how long we will be around. Prayers to you and your family.

    We sure enjoyed the reunion. Curtis saw several of guys he knew. He really did enjoy seeing you and the other guys. I am really sorry about your brother.

Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond March 7, 2021 Hopefully hibernation season is over. It appears that spring has sprung. There were a lot of daffodils blooming in the side ditch but a hard rain beat about all of the blooms off the stems. But more popped up, including the ones in Carol's yard. Also there are tiny white flowers and some blue and purple ones as well and of course my favorite, dandelions. During that cold snap, Carol's Pond froze over and that is not acceptable at all.   February 1, 2022 Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond The last week of January is my anniversary week. Some of them are enjoyable anniversaries and some suck really bad. That may be gross but it is the only way to say it. But before we get to the description of the anniversaries, there is some other news. Last week I looked in the back yard and there were hundreds of Purple Grackles or common blackbirds. I assume there are working their way north in anticipation of spring. I hope they are right. And there were some ducks that stopped in today. There were only 5 or 6. Something startled them and off they went. I seldom see ducks. Lake Bob Sandlin is on the west side of Mt. Pleasant and I suspect most stop there rather than on a small pond. Also last week, I had an MRI of my head and received some excellent news. The scan did NOT indicate Lewy-Body Dementia. LB is a very aggressive type of dementia. I will have 2 more scans to try and determin...

  Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond April 10, 2022 We had a rip roaring thunderstorm about 10 days ago. There was very heavy rain, but Goat Island is still Goat Peninsula. I think Mother Nature is mad at me for mooning her on New Years Eve. If she doesn't bring us sufficient rain soon, I may moon her again. The drought has killed several of the trees, 7 trees may have to be removed. I am going to give them a couple of more weeks to see if they leaf out but if they don't, I will have them removed. There were some travelers that stayed on the pond for a couple of weeks, resting up before continuing on their migration. I don't know what type of ducks they were. They would dive down to feed and come up some other place. I would like to see them stick around all year. Samantha, Sam, Sam Jr. and Bill provided the entertainment this morning.
