Carol's Pond

Merry Christmas all!!


This had been one cold Christmas. Hibernation is definitely a possibility. But while many of us have been shivering, Carol's Pond has been very busy. About 2 to 3 dozen ducks of some type have stopped in for a rest or just to feed. I do not know what they are, they are black and white and not very big and they dive under and come up someplace else. They are not darters because they can fly when wet.


I was afraid I was going to have to separate Blue Boy and Whitey. Blue Boy decided that Whitey was encroaching on his territory and chased Whitey all the way across the pond. Blue Boy is larger than Whitey but not by much.

Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch home of Carol's Pond March 7, 2021 Hopefully hibernation season is over. It appears that spring has sprung. There were a lot of daffodils blooming in the side ditch but a hard rain beat about all of the blooms off the stems. But more popped up, including the ones in Carol's yard. Also there are tiny white flowers and some blue and purple ones as well and of course my favorite, dandelions. During that cold snap, Carol's Pond froze over and that is not acceptable at all. Mother Nature are you listening? There were several ducks that stuck around most of the winter, but I have not seen them today. They were very fast swimmers, fast enough to create a good wake behind them. I dubbed them the Shore Patrol. Those of you that were in the military know what the shore patrol is. June 20, 2023 Carol's Dragonfly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond The last few days have been a pain in my acetabulum. Last Wednesday night, just past midnight, the power went out. No big deal. It happens way too frequently here. So I went to bed. The next morning I still did not have power. I looked out in the back yard and 2 of my neighbors oak trees are now in my backyard. My neighbor to the east of me, lost 6 trees. The guy 2 doors west decided to loan Debbie an oak tree since 2 of hers were AWOL. Today, June 20 th , the power came back on around 1300 hours or 1:00 p.m. So in all it was out 5 and a half days. What a PITA (pain in the ass). I finally broke down and went to a motel. I can handle the heat at night and sleep fairly well. But after 4 days, I needed a shower desperately. I smelled worse than a hog pen. This was a major storm that did a lot of damage across a very large area. Since I do not have a TV I get my news off the internet. Shrevep
