Carol’s Dragonfly Ranch

Home of Carol’s Pond

I want to wish my wife a very happy Birthday in Heaven.

I also want to thank all of those that have or are serving in the Armed Forces of the USA and especially those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

Whitey the Great White Egret has stopped in a couple of times recently as have some of my lizard friends. I think they hid when it was so hot and dry. And last week, one lone duck stopped in for a day or so. No idea what kind of duck, but it did like to dive.

This week, Gene Voorhies and his son, Russ have been visiting me. As hard as I worked Russ, he may never come back!! Russ is currently a First Sgt in the military with the rank of E-8. The 3 of us had dinner on Applebee’s to honor our service. But now for the rest of the story. We rounded the corner here on the county road I lived on and there were 3 cattle standing in the road and they were ‘talking’ with my neighbors cattle. We stopped as did a lady coming towards us. She called the Sheriff’s department as did I. I honked and the cattle scooted off the road and we went on. On the way home, the bovine traffic jam was gone

This area of Texas finally received some rain. It helped a lot but we need more. We went 7 maybe 8 weeks without and measurable rainfall.

Later,

Rex

  1. Oklahoma was really dry also. I kept thinking where we live if there was a fire, I am not sure how you get out. But we got rain and am turning green and i have water in my itsy bitsy pond. I for got where it was but some place got 10 inches of rain. We were close to that and sure needed it.

  2. Thank you for your service!! I'm sure Gene and Russ enjoy helping you out. As for the cattle ... just honk the horn and yell ... they'll move away! Good thing you spotted them first. We got our first rain yesterday, and it was a doozy!! Praying for more. Happy birthday to your wife in Heaven, and say hello to Whitey for me.

    1. Thank you and I will be sure and tell Whitey hello. The cattle were gone by the time we got back.
