  January 25,2023 Carol's Pond Well this is my anniversary week. My niece Erika was born on January 24, I was honorably discharged from the USAF on January 25, 1972 I went on active duty on January 26, 1968 I was divorced on January 27, 1978 My Mother passed away on January 30, 1994 and my sister Betty passed away on January 31, 1960. And this morning I was discharged from Home Health Care per my request. I think there are probably others out there that need their assistance more than I do. I am kind of looking for a live in caregiver. About 10 days ago, I had some red paver blocks removed. These were the type that resemble a stop sign with a handle. In their place I had a concrete slab poured. The blocks were sinking from erosion and were a fall hazard. The slab will make getting around in my wheel chair a lot easier. Carol's Pond December 25, 2022 Merry Christmas all!! This had been one cold Christmas. Hibernation is definitely a possibility. But while many of us have been shivering, Carol's Pond has been very busy. About 2 to 3 dozen ducks of some type have stopped in for a rest or just to feed. I do not know what they are, they are black and white and not very big and they dive under and come up someplace else. They are not darters because they can fly when wet. I was afraid I was going to have to separate Blue Boy and Whitey. Blue Boy decided that Whitey was encroaching on his territory and chased Whitey all the way across the pond. Blue Boy is larger than Whitey but not by much. Happy New Year everybody. Rex  

  November 28, 2022 Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond I meet with the neurologist December12. While I am very happy that I do not have Parkinson's, at least there I knew what was coming so to speak. With a traumatic brain injury I do not know the future and that makes me a little nervous. But I have lived with it for 58 years so what the heck. But speaking of medical issues, after Thanksgiving, my health went to hell. I did not want to go to the doctor or ER. But finally today I had too. As it turns out I have both Covid and the Flu. So I am in quarantine. Except for the worst sore throat I have ever had, I don't feel bad, just very tired. But to add insult to injury, I was very tired Sunday evening and I went to bed about 7. Around 11 my body says it wants to pee. Getting in and out of bed, especially out, is often very difficult and painful. It is especially painful when you land in the floor. But now the embarrassment comes in. I...

  November 12, 2022 Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond I want to start by wishing Carol a very Happy Birthday. Her birthday was yesterday the 11 th . I will not divulge her age, but to me she is still a sweet young thing. I am mad at by neighbors and Sam and Samantha Jane and her daughter. I talk nice to them and try not to scare them and what do they do? They move next door to Debbie's house and she doesn't even know their names. That just isn't right. Whitey is trying to get fat. He was here for all 3 meals one day this week and usually 2 meals on the other days. He may get too fat to fly. On the 4 th I had an MRI of my brain. I do not have the results yet. I have called twice but they have not called back. The VA sent me to a Movement Specialist on October 31 st and he ordered the MRI.   October 27, 2022 Carol's Dragon Fly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond Winter is coming and that is disgusting. I hate cold weather. One way I know old man Winter, alias jerkface, is just around the corner is that a Darter showed up on the pond last week. A darter is a type of cormorant and like a cormorant they can not fly when they are wet. They have to get out of the water and dry off. But so far I have only seen the one. As I write this there are 3 turtles on the log and one trying to get on. My other neighbors, Sam, Sam Jr., Samantha Jane and Baby Jane have been absent. Best guess is they are looking or are in their winter homes. It was 40 yesterday morning and that is too cold for man or beast. This past Monday on the 24 th , I had some heart test in Tyler, Texas. October 3, 2022 Carol's Dragonfly Ranch Home of Carol's Pond. September was not a good month for me or my family and friends. Gene Voorhies and his wife Jane and I went to Indiana for a class reunion. There was also a family reunion on the 14 th . At the family reunion, my brother had a fatal stroke. Frank lived to get to the hospital and they tried but the stroke was too massive and did too much damage. He hung on for a week before passing. He was my only brother, and being 7 years older, taught me a lot. I do and will miss him. The class reunion was one of the best ever. The committee did a great job. Later, Rex
